Project Overview
On May 14, 2008, the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) began roadway construction on Oracle Road (State Route 77) between Tangerine Road and Calle Concordia to widen the roadway for improved traffic flow and safety. Oracle Road will be widened from four lanes to six lanes (three lanes in each direction) between Tangerine Road and La Reserve Drive to the north, and Calle Concordia and Pusch View Lane on the south. This improvement project ties into the Town of Oro Valley's improvement project that widened Oracle Road between Pusch View Lane and La Reserve Drive in 2007. The project is expected to last 18 months, with completion during the winter of 2009. The ADOT roadway improvements include:
- An additional 12-foot-wide travel lane and 10-foot-wide shoulder in each direction
- New right-turn lanes will be added at some intersections, and some left-turn lanes will be adjusted to handle more traffic
- CaƱada del Oro Bridge widening
- Retaining walls
- Noise walls
- Traffic signal improvements
- Drainage improvements
- Landscaping
